Our Treehouse Stay – Quirky Accom
28 MARCH 2018

Hi there, I’m Charlotte, one of the newest members of the Marketing team here at QuirkyAccom.com!

Earlier this month, I took a trip to Norfolk and Suffolk to visit some of our properties in the area. I was lucky enough to visit West Lexham treehouses which, for someone who spent her childhood (and realistically still her adulthood) dreaming of living in a treehouse, was a point of major excitement.

West Lexham really is in the heart of the countryside and the drive there provided stunning views. Upon arriving at the treehouses, you wind yourself through the forest paths to find your room for the night. Whether you’re staying in a treehouse or a tree temple, the structures themselves are absolutely stunning, covered in ivy on the outside and with trees running through the centre. With each house nestled amongst a different cluster of trees, you don’t feel although you are leaving the woodland when you step into the building, but instead as though you are exploring it further. My personal favourite was Sunrise; despite being one of the last to not have an en suite extension, the stunning stained-glass window and multilevel bedrooms take it to the top spot for me. The site bathrooms are hardly a drawback either, each individually designed and decorated, I think I’d take a trip even if provided with an en-suite!

Every treehouse has a truly rustic feel which complements the eco-friendly nature of the site. Water is collected from the nearby chalk stream and is all treated on site whilst the bio-burner makes the estate 95% energy efficient. All the materials for the buildings and furniture alike are locally sourced with upcycling a priority. My favourite features were the beds in Quercus and Tilia, all made entirely from tree branches.

Whether you stay in a treehouse that sleeps 2, 4 or 6, you’ll be kitted out with a full kitchen and BBQ, perfect for cooking something up on a summers night.

The West Lexham estate spans 21 acres of land which encompasses cottages, barns, conference rooms, yurts and gardens which you’re free to explore. Why not take a boat for a row on the lake or admire the stunning surroundings of Norfolk countryside?

Entering the treehouses really made me feel like I was 5 years old again; small touches like fairly lights and bunting make the whole experience truly magical. The woody smell and the excitement of climbing ladders to get to bed coupled with the luxury of heated rooms and beautiful bedding mean it’s a stay that anyone, of any age, would not forget in a while!
