WHAT TO BRING FOR YOUR GLAMPING STAY?
If the idea of roughing it during a camping holiday doesn’t sound appealing, almost fills you with horror, then look no further. As with many people I know, my first camping experiences as a youngster are remembered for family arguments during the hours of stress trying to erect our big tent, sweating in my smelly sleeping bag and sore back in the morning from my deflated air bed! How times have changed!
Enjoy the West Lexham experience, so your family’s first camping adventure doesn’t become your last! Here you are still camping, still with the elements of mother nature, but with a touch of luxury, otherwise known as glamping.
A glamping holiday at West Lexham still exposes you to the great outdoors as with traditional camping trips, staying in luxury 5m Bell tents, and with facilities found at our campsite far exceeding anything most campers have ever experienced.
WHAT DO WE PROVIDE FOR YOUR GLAMPING STAY?
Bedding: all bed linen (pillow covers, duvet covers and bed sheets), a bath towel and hand towel each. We provide the bell tents with clean fresh bedding, with the beds made up ready prior to arrival. For those chillier nights, we also provide a hot water bottle each, colourful throws and an extra blanket for your comfort.
Kitchen equipment: all cooking utensils including saucepans, frying pans, spatulas, spoons etc are provided. So, there’s no need to worry. You’ll also find plates, cups, glasses and cutlery in the garden kitchen – everything you need including a kettle and toaster! We ask that you kindly do all your washing up – we provide the washing up liquid, washing cloths and drying tea towels. You have a cool box in your tent, with frozen blocks available.
Food: plenty of fridge/freezer space and storage cupboards in our fabulous communal garden kitchen. Don’t forget, though, for your convenience, you can pre-order from our selection of artisanal food, which includes hampers (pizza, BBQ and breakfast), campfire kits and a variety of homemade frozen meals. All of these must be ordered and paid for a few days in advance of your arrival please.
Drinks: Tea, coffee and sugar is provided for drinking.
Cooking equipment: For traditional meal cooking, you can cook on the hob, re-heat or even roast in the conventional gas oven in the garden kitchen. We also have a microwave for quick convenience cooking Each tent has its own charcoal BBQ and there is a communal gas BBQ in the garden kitchen – both perfect for cooking your BBQ hamper, with fresh locally sourced meat, and breakfast hampers, which include all the essentials for a hearty start to your day. We also have a pizza oven, perfect with your patience and sense of adventure as a fun way of cooking your pizza hamper ingredients. If you fancy lighting our fire pit, you can make a camp fire, with its unlimited supply of logs, for you to enjoy our campfire kit, great fun for the kids!
Lighting: for a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere you have fairy lights around your tent, 2 torches for your starlit walks round the site, and 2 lanterns for reading.
Seating: for each individual tent there is a cable drum table and logs for chairs. There is also ample seating inside the kitchen and in the outside communal area.
Washing: hand towels and eco-cleaning products are provided, with plenty of hot water and soft toilet paper of course! when packing your own toiletries, please give consideration to the fact we are an eco site and therefore environmentally friendly products are preferred please. Finally, remember our wash house is luxurious with underfloor heating, so a visit here is very appealing – no matter what time of day or night!
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO PACK FOR YOUR GLAMPING STAY?
Food: If you’re not planning on doing a food run as soon as you arrive on site, then it might be a good idea to bring along some food and drink of your choice to keep you going. Remember we do provide pre-bookable artisanal hampers and homemade frozen meals if you fancy treating yourself.
Charcoal: please bring your own if you are using your tent BBQ.
Footwear: Even during the driest spells the grass will always be wet in the mornings so a pair of wellies are a year-round great idea, especially for exploring around our developing plantation area. It is a good walking area, such as to Castle Acre, so walking boots are a good alternative. For wearing inside the yurts, bringing some slippers, or other easy slip on and off footwear, will make everything much more comfortable.
Torch: perhaps bring your own along especially for using outside, around the campfire for example.
Spare clothes: for accidents as we don’t have any washing facilities on the site. A laundry service is offered at a charge of £10 per item. It would be prudent to keep an eye on the weather forecast – extra jumpers and rain gear…just in case?! On the flip side, we have a beautiful lake, and we are located only a short distance from marvellous beaches, so don’t forget your swim gear and beach shoes. Please bring your own beach towels.
A good book or your guitar!
Seating: Some guests have brought their own camping chairs or deck chairs. This is entirely up to you and depends on how much space you have in your boot!
Insect repellent: We are lucky enough not to be plagued by swarms of nasty biting insects, however, this is the outdoors and some people are more susceptible than others. If you think you might need it, please bring some. Citronella candles can be brought for the same reason which can make a great difference, however mustn’t be taken in to your tent.
I HOPE THIS REALLY HELPS YOUR PACKING EXPERIENCE.
BEST OF LUCK AND HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON.
