Sarah Toward, Founder of Toward Yoga
I started practicing yoga in the 1990s and immediately loved how strong and flexible it made me feel. I gained my first qualification to teach Iyengar yoga in 2005 and since then I have continued to gain further qualifications reaching JI3 Level 3, constantly striving to be the very best teacher I can be.
Having dabbled in pretty much all yoga styles, I finally found the attention to detail, sequencing and genius use of yoga blocks/bricks/belts within the Iyengar tradition provided the strong yoga practice which challenged me physically and left me wanting more. I have had the joy of training with many of the world’s best teachers, each of whom has contributed to my unique teaching style.
I feel as strong, and move as easily, in my 40’s as I did in my 20’s. I’ve also found that yoga gives me what I need to cope with the stresses and strains of life.
What people say about Sarah’s teaching
Sarah’s classes are transformative, invigorating and passionate. Prepare yourself to be inspired! (Anna)
Having attended numerous yoga classes in various cities I can honestly say I have never encountered someone who instilled in me such a love of yoga. Her classes were always run with a friendly and professional manner. Whether beginner or advanced, Sarah catered to everyone’s individual needs seamlessly and tailormade each class to ensure everyone got the best out of every second. She encouraged people to work at their maximum without ever pushing people too far. She was at all times approachable and guided me through a difficult pregnancy when I had SPD. Sarah was always available to discuss individual people’s needs and made suggestions as to how best enhance practice at home. I looked forward to every class and always came away with a great sense of well-being. I could not recommend Sarah highly enough as both a yoga teacher and a kind and caring lady who always wanted the best for her students. (Mairead)
Sarah is an expert yoga teacher and also has a tremendous ability to motivate her students. She works plenty of one-to-one attention into classes, and fine-tunes the practice to fit every student’s ability. She gets to know everybody’s quirks and injuries and finds ways around them. Although everything is slow, there is lots of physical effort, as well as concentration and laughs.
Every class leaves you with tired muscles and a clear mind. I started yoga in the hope of dealing with a lower back problem. Sarah’s classes gave me control over that, and much more. (Nathan)
