#LEXHAM LIFE IN 2019
In November 2019, work will commence on some adventurous additions to our 21 acres of Norfolk splendour. With a vision to expand our community and create a unique space for creativity, connection and the meeting of minds, we’re laying the foundations to nourish and nurture from the ground upwards.
We’ll be building a restaurant and cultivating organic gardens to feed it, creating communal areas to meet your fellow West Lexhamers, a library of inspirations, providing additional workshop/pop-up spaces, more of the quirky accommodation that’s become our hallmark and ultimately a wellness spa and shop.
It’s set to be a very big year!
By 2020 we hope to be launching the first phase of home grown West Lexham retreats, using our learnings to fulfil our ultimate ambition – to share retreat-style content with all who pass through our gates. Our vision is for West Lexham to become an immersive experience defined by a holistic approach, cultivating connection with the self, one another and nature. We like to think of it as wellbeing by well doing.
All this excitement will truly begin with the commence of development in Winter 2019. In the meantime, our team is humming away with plans for events on closer horizons.
Let us tell you more…
KIDS! THIS ONE’S FOR YOU.
For those who have visited us, you’ll surely know we are a family business. We couldn’t do all this just for us adults! We’re in talks with all manner of activities for little ones to get stuck into. Think drum workshops, summer clubs, adventure activities and chances to run wild.
EXPLORATION FOR ALL!
Did you know we’ve planted every type of tree indigenous to the UK? Have you enjoyed the wonders of wild swimming in the lake? Or stumbled upon the new Japanese garden? 2019 is set to be the year of discovery, and we’ve some tricks up our sleeve to help you on your way.
In Spring we’ll be hosting an opening ceremony for our new Japanese Gardens, set to be in full bloom by Spring. Tucked away amidst the trees at the far side of the lake, this undulating glade is designed to stimulate mind, body and soul.
As we welcome the summer solstice, we’ll be inviting you to join us in celebrating for one of life’s great joys – Wild swimming. ‘The Big Swim’ is set to become a West Lexham tradition, rain or shine, where man, woman, child and beast will take to the waters and swim the length of our fresh water lake.
The Solstice will also mark the launch of our first self-led trail challenge. Designed to encourage exploration of the whole site, entries can be made throughout summer and one lucky participant will win a very special prize!
THE RESTAURANT, VEGETABLE GARDEN AND ORCHARD
Nothing brings people together like sharing chatter over a hearty meal. Our restaurant will be open to all our visitors, whether you’re here on retreat, for a corporate event, holidaying in a Tree House or slumbering in a bell tent.
With the introduction of our new restaurant by 2020, next year will set in motion a project of organic growth. We’ll be preparing our veg patches, poly-tunnels and orchards, ready to fill your bellies with nourishing delights. Anything we can’t grow ourselves will be locally and sustainably sourced. Any fish or meat will be of the highest quality, consciously and responsibly selected for ethical and environmental welfare.
THE LIBRARY AND COMMUNAL SPACE
The main West Lexham barn is being extended to incorporate a reference library and chill-out space. With sustainability, self-development, society, nature and the environment on our literary menu, you’re sure to strike up some inspiring conversations with fellow West Lexham folk. If you’ve got a favourite book that you think has just got to be on our shelves, be sure to get in touch!
With so much in the pipeline, we hope to share the values and vision that are its driving force.
Thanks for joining us on the journey!
